Ve dnech 3. - 4. července 2025 se vůbec poprvé v České republice uskuteční v Olomouci Světový pohár v paraatletice žen. Jedná se o jeden z devíti závodů prestižní paraatletické série World Para Athletics Grand Prix, která je obdobou atletické Diamantové ligy. Olomouc se tak stala úplně prvním českým hostitelem těchto závodů, které byly v letošním roce pořádány mimo jiné také v Dubaji, Paříži a Novém Dillí.

On July 3-4th 2025, the Czech Republic will host the very first World Para Athletics women-only Grand Prix, taking place in the city of Olomouc. This event is part of the prestigious World Para Athletics Grand Prix series - the paraathletic equivalent of the Diamond League. In 2025, there are only nine events of Grand Prix and these competitions were already held in cities such as Dubai, Paris and New Delhi, with Olomouc becoming the very first Czech host in history.
Olomouc event is the last competition of this year’s Grand Prix series and will be exclusively dedicated to women - an initiative of World Para Athletics to promote greater female participation in parasport. The city of Olomouc will continue to host the Grand Prix throughout the entire 2025-2028 Paralympic cycle.
The organizing committee is pleased to welcome a huge number of athletes to this unique competition. With less than one week to go, 170 female paraathletes from 46 countries are currently registered. Spectators in Olomouc can look forward to seeing top global paraathletic talent, including Italian Ambra Sabatini, current world record holder in the 100 m and 200 m events in the T63 category. Other notable participants include Paralympic champions from the Paris 2024 Games Simoné Kruger (South Africa), Maroua Ibrahmi and Raoua Tlili (Tunisia), as well as six-time world record holder Cassie Mitchell (USA), and legendary twelve-time Paralympic medalist Martina Willing (Germany).
The Czech national team is expected to have one of the strongest delegations. Among the top home medal contenders are Anna Luxová - bronze medalist from the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, four-time Paralympic bronze medalist Eva Berná and European silver medalist Tereza Jakschová. Other Czech athletes competing for top positions include Miroslava Obrová - participant of the Paris 2024 Paralympics, and Olomouc’s own enduring legend Eva Kacanu - gold medalist from the 2008 Beijing Paralympics.
The organizing team from Athletic Club Olomouc warmly invites all public spectators to attend the event on July 3-4th at the TJ Lokomotiva Olomouc stadium. Come and support all the female paraathletes in their efforts!
The opening ceremony will take place on Thursday, July the 3rd at 3:00 PM, with the participation of the First Lady of Czechia Eva Pavlová, President of the Czech Paralympic Committee Zbyněk Sýkora, Mayor of Olomouc city Miroslav Žbánek, and Governor of the Olomouc Region Ladislav Okleštěk.
